The founding director of the foundation named after her mother. Education has always been a powerful force in her upbringing with both parents being in the legal profession. She grew up under a stern hand of respect, being helpful and kind to the less fortunate.
Growing up in Durban and Soweto, she realised that other children and other households were not as privileged as she was. At a tender age of 9 years, she started giving away food in her home to her local peers in the neighbourhood who were impoverished. Soon thereafter she gave away her own clothes to other kids who had less clothes than she did and it was at that moment that she found empathy that this foundation was founded.
A Marketing Graduate from IMM, having worked at L’oreal Beauty Promotions; to working at MTN South Africa in the Sales Division; Wes-bank Corporate Office as Internal Marketing for Vehicle Finance, then as Business Development Manager at Empowerd ex, with all the accumulated experience in her professional career,she is able to structure and run a formal non-profit organization successfully.
Khanya’s success as Founding Director lies in the effective project management skills as well as the initiatives and programmes that she and her team have designed which some of them have been implemented in order to fight the identified social ills that exists in our everyday lives.
The benefit that she brings is the expertise that she has nurtured throughout her career that brings out the maximum impact of the nine year old. The relationships that she has formed and maintained with leading industry professionals and friends who share the same vision of a just society and across vast industries help her propel her vision.
